GROWTH

Message from president/CEO Chantel Schieffer

Welcome to 2018! This year, we celebrate 15 years of Leadership Montana. We were founded in 2003 with our very first cohort meeting at Big Sky Resort in the fall of 2004. I asked Barbara Braided Hair, a member of that class and one of our board members, to share her recollections.

“My first memory was of how beautiful the scenery was with the mountains. It helped ease my fear of coming to meet a new group of people,” she tells me. I remember something similar from my experience in 2010 and I know many others recall a strong sense of comfort mixed with understandable trepidation.

So much has happened during these past 15 years in our organization. Over the next year, we look forward to celebrating where we have been, where we are today, and where we are going.

And speaking of where we are going, Leadership Montana is in a period of considerable growth. You’ll see in this newsletter that we have a lot happening – launching the new Masters Class, certifying more Gracious Space trainers, our second Lessons in Leadership speakers event, and more.

This level of growth takes a lot of hands, heads, and hearts to manage. To that end, we are hiring a new Special Projects Coordinator. If you or someone you know fits this bill, please let me know.

We are also recruiting new board members as we have three with expiring terms this year and two next year.

Anyone who serves in this capacity will quickly tell you that it is a rewarding and meaningful way to support our mission of building a better Montana. While we are sad to see these inspirational and hardworking Governor’s terms come to a close, we know there are a number of dedicated alumni ready to step up and help guide Leadership Montana into the next 15 years. Maybe even you.

If you are interested in joining our team as a member of our Board of Governors, please read this job description and submit this application before February 15th. Please feel free to reach out to me or any of our esteemed board members to learn more.

To 2018, we say “Welcome”. Let’s celebrate.
