RENEWAL

Message from president/CEO Chantel Schieffer

Spring has sprung (well, almost), and my mind has turned to this season of renewal. This season for me, is always a favorite as we start to see bright vegetation peeking through white snow and brown dirt. The greens, yellows, and purples are sights for my sore eyes, to be sure.

My mind also turns to the renewal of spirit, connection, energy, and personal growth.

To me, renewal in leadership means a process of revitalizing or refreshing the way we operate, communicate, and make decisions. This means a deep examination of our leadership styles, approaches, and goals, with the aim of identifying areas that need improvement, and making changes that lead to greater effectiveness, engagement, and success.

Renewal in leadership can take many forms, depending on the specific context and needs of the leader and their organization. It may involve developing new skills or knowledge, adopting new strategies or methodologies, redefining goals or priorities, building new relationships or networks, or even reinventing oneself as a leader.

Renewal in leadership often requires a willingness to be open to feedback and constructive criticism, to embrace new ideas and perspectives, and to take risks and experiment with new approaches. This can be a challenging and sometimes uncomfortable process, but one that ultimately leads to greater growth, learning, and success as a leader and as a person.

That’s what Leadership Montana is all about, right? Exploring ways to grow ourselves into stronger leaders for the betterment of our teams and communities. We are here to grow ourselves into better people, and better Montanans in all of the ways that we show up in our world.

As you consider what renewal looks like for you, we hope you will consider applying for our next round of alumni programs the Masters Class and Indigenous Immersion Initiative. We also have a number of other alumni engagement opportunities for you to lean on as you renew your skills this season.
